As we head in to Autumn, it's a good time to reflect on letting go... Letting go of summer is always a challenge for me, so I'm very much enjoying the late summer sun we've been blessed with here in the south of England. However, letting go of everything that isn’t serving is the goal. It's also a time of enjoying the bountiful harvest. Whilst on a recent pilgrimage to the North of Scotland, I witnessed countless fields being harvested and many full of golden bales in the gorgeous late summer sunshine. It was a definite reminder to be grateful for all that has been accomplished so far this year. As the days gradually shorten, a time of release, rest, recharge, reflection and renewal beckons us to slow down. With the New Moon in Virgo on the 15th (tomorrow in the early hours), I intend to use the energy to get me started on clearing the clutter to get ready for the coming months. Moving forward with a clear mind while creating fresh space to be in retreat mode over the winter. As within, so without. I have an image in my mind, as I write, of gardeners harvesting the fruits of the summer growth and clearing the old growth that has gone over. Creating bonfires and filling compost heaps to create new rich soil. Releasing the old and preparing for the new growth that will come. Do you have clutter?
Clutter can be in various guises. That drawer of who knows what, the bulging wardrobes, the small piles that gather and grow over time dotted all around the house. I realise, although my house is fairly tidy, I have pockets of clutter. My office is like a whirlwind passed through (it's on my list)….and computer clutter! Masses of writings and files to be sorted through, various photo albums waiting to be organised, going nowhere but getting bigger all the time. I’ve always felt clutter, it makes me feel unsettled, scattered, lacking in clarity and overwhelmed. This is why I tend to keep my space clear. My astrological rising sign is Virgo, and I love that, it helps to keep my Piscean-self grounded! I’ve often joked, if I wasn’t a healer, I’d have a job helping people clear their spaces of clutter. When I do make the time to clear the clutter, I feel the impact, it feels lighter. I feel the spaciousness that's created. On so many levels it feels good. It’s the same when I clear some drawers, sort through my wardrobe or tidy the linen closet. Even clearing one small space makes a big difference to my peace. Tonight I will have a fire ceremony, releasing some outdated ideas and beliefs along with some old paperwork and journals, whilst honouring the New Moon and intending more spaciousness and clarity of mind. May you be awed by beauty...always. With love and blessings,
