How has your month been as we shift gears in the cycle of the seasons? The energies of Imbolc have certainly been moving through me as I feel the stirrings of new growth and activity within and all around me. I'm very much a feeling being, and sometimes it can be a challenge to put words on to the energies I feel. As nature is stirring and rising from the slumber of winter time, I feel it like a dance. I'm feeling pulled to dance more and shake off the remnants of my hibernation. An all time favourite active meditation of mine, is Osho's Kundalini Meditation. Traditionally done at sunset, with a feeling of let go, it has you shake and dance before the silence. I've often used it between times of transition as a helping aid. The following quote is powerful, because in my experience, it's so true. In our culture we've often become stuck and rigid in our thoughts, beliefs, perceptions and actions. As a remedy clients, in support of their healing, can often be prescribed things like authentic movement, dance and singing. Dance is a perfect antidote to help bring back flow and movement to ourselves. “In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: "When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence?” Gabrielle Roth Some possible suggestions to inspire you to flow with the momentum that's happening in nature:
○ Stand with knees slightly bent, close your eyes, then imagine yourself as nature stirring awake, slowly, how would you move? Allow yourself to stretch and unfurl. ○ Put on an upbeat song to get you moving and dance like nobody's watching! Move how your body wishes to move, and let go of the mind. Sing along! ○ Go out on a walk of intention to receive messages and insights from nature. (see post here, on what a walk of intention is) ○ Dance under the full moon in a couple of weeks and embrace your primal nature. ○ Shake with knees bent and relaxed, let the movement come up gently from the earth and move you. ○ Try the 'Osho Active Kundalini Meditation', it can be found on Youtube with instructions. With love and blessings,
